Name: Lio Fotia Door: Door Pass (Submissive) Canon: Promare Canon Point: Just before getting into the Prometech Pod to ignite the Earth Age: 21 Appearance: Lithe, slender, fairly androgynous. Lio is built like a dancer or a runner, made to be quick and agile, but stronger than he looks. His blonde-green hair is kept in a neat chin-length bob with fringe. Lio's eyes are violet with a light in them similar in color to the fire he wields. He tends towards black leather and white lace, black boots, the-exact-opposite-of-fingerless-gloves, and more belts than any human being could possibly need outside a Kingdom Hearts game. Picture History: Wiki Personality: Lio Fotia is as intense as the flames that he wields. He is focused and dedicated to the goals he pursues and the things he believes in, especially finding a way to protect the Burnish from the Foresight Foundation and their experiments and cruelties. Responsibility & Protectiveness As the leader of the Mad Burnish, Lio has taken the responsibility fighting for the Burnish on his shoulders, and he takes that extremely seriously. The Burnish are his people, and he will fight for them to his last breath. He's protective of the Burnish and is determined to keep them safe in any way that he can, and more than that to fight for a place for them in the world, where they can live. Lio takes offense at any suggestion that the Burnish aren't human beings, that they're treated as some sort of monsters. Leadership Lio has earned the respect of his fellow Mad Burnish. Meis and Gueira trust his leadership and follow his lead without hesitation. Their confidence in their "Boss" is evident. They help execute Lio's plan to rescue the imprisoned Burnish, informing the astounded Burnish that the freezing ring restraints are no match for Lio's flames. Later, they both save Lio at the expense of being captured by Vulcan and Freeze Force, despite Lio's adamant protest. Meis and Gueira are trusted generals, but they are also people that Lio cares for, and he doesn't want them sacrificing themselves for his sake. Idealism Lio has stepped into the position as leader with very clear ideals that he holds himself and the rest of the Burnish to. One of the main rules that Lio insists on is that the Burnish do not kill unless they have no other choice. In part this rule is practical -- there is already mistrust and fear of the Burnish, and Mad Burnish killing people could be used as an excuse to take further action against the Burnish as a whole. But beyond that, Lio doesn't want to hurt people, he only wants the Burnish to be able to live free and safe like any human being deserves. That said, while taking life is against his moral code, destroying property is not, and the Mad Burnish attacks certainly do that, though they do tend to focus their attention on Foresight Foundation properties. Cynicism Despite Lio's strong morals and ideals, he also has a cynical side. He has seen the suffering perpetrated on the Burnish by the Foresight Foundation, and he knows the darker side of humanity because of this. He scoffs at Galo and his naivete when he finds out the other had no idea of the true actions of the Foresight Foundation. He's also quick to comment and snark at the way Freeze Force and Burning Rescue are squabbling, expressing his overall disdain for the 'authorities.' Judgmental Nature This is not the only time Lio's judgmental and snippier side is on display. He complains about Freeze Force being annoying, shushes Galo because the Burnish are trying to eat, among other things. Even when he and Galo are working together to battle against Kray, he occasionally calls Galo an idiot (mostly for his "grin and bear it" plans, though in Galo's defense, those do somehow tend to work out). He also has a very distinct flair for the showy and dramatic -- from the way the armor, vehicles and weapons he creates look, to the fact that in his first battle with Galo he makes a show of sitting on a throne above the action while Meis and Gueira begin the fight. He follows this up with forming his motorcycle and spinning a series of shockingly unnecessary donuts in front of Galo. Impulsiveness For all that Lio complains about Galo's impulsiveness, Lio clearly has an impulsive side as well, though he tends to keep himself under a very tight control. Part of this is because as a Burnish, he's capable of causing a great deal of destruction if the flames were to get away from him. The Promare speak to the Burnish with their urge to burn more and more, hotter and hotter. Lio has accepted this part of himself, accepted what he is. He knows that as a Burnish, the flames will sustain him until he dies, at which point he will fade to ashes. He tells Galo this is the fate of the Burnish, and he seems at peace with that. His control of his flames is precise enough to craft vehicles and weapons from flame, to raze buildings, and to create a spark that is just hot enough to singe Galo as a rebuke for making an insensitive comment about the Burnish. Anger & Pride Lio is generally soft-spoken and in control, but that control can and does have its limits. The anger in him at what has been done to the Burnish, at Kray and the Foresight Foundation, sometimes gets the better of him. The first time it happens, after he's been frozen for a week, his entire physical self transforms in a manifestation of his rage and he launches an assault on Promepolis to draw Kray out. He's blinded by rage, but it's an anger driven by grief. Galo notes this when he sees the dragon shape that Lio's flames have taken is crying. The second time Lio's anger gets the better of him is when Kray provokes him into attacking, and he unleashes the full fury of his fire at Kray, expecting to kill him since he was unaware that Kray was Burnish. Lio's anger and pride are things that he struggles with. This loss of control and giving into his anger, however, are the exception. Lio wants to protect people. Later in that same battle against Kray, he uses his flames to protect Galo. And earlier, when Galo and Aina intervene to stop him from rampaging through the city, he seems to snap out of it in the moment before Aina drops him and Galo out of her aircraft because Galo reminds him of the pride he takes in the Burnish not killing. When given the opportunity to work together with Galo, he makes the decision to trust the firefighter despite the previous friction between them. They make a good team, and Lio recognizes that. Overall, Lio Fotia is a young man who has is dedicated to protecting his people. He's emphatic about his principles. He tries to keep himself reined in -- a controlled burn -- but is not above that self-control fraying to sometimes dire consequences. His pride can sometimes cause trouble for him, but bit by bit he does learn to loosen up and accept help even from someone he'd previously been at odds with. Powers and Abilities: Burnish - Lio can create and control flames. These flames can behave like regular fire, but they can also be used to shape armor, vehicles, weapons, gigantic fire dragons, and other items. Lio in particular is a very strong Burnish, and his flames are able to overcome the anti-Burnish restraints as well as survive the lethal subzero freezing bullet that Vulcan shoots him with. His flair for the dramatic comes through loud and clear the way he uses his flames. Nerfs: For purposes of his Burnish power in game, his flames will be limited to a lower intensity. He won't be able to create giant city-devouring flame dragons or explode volcanos. If possible, I'd like him still be able to create his armor and smaller weapons like sword and bow and arrow. Weapons - Lio shows a decent level of skill with both a sword and bow and arrow (all the aforementioned weapons crafted out of flames). Motorcycles - A bit of a showboat, Lio is clearly comfortable on a motorcycle, Leadership - Lio stepped into his role as leader of the Mad Burnish and takes it very seriously. His men are extremely loyal, and he is likewise loyal to them and their cause. He is capable of inspiring all the Burnish to cooperate together in order to save the world from disaster. Inventory: Lio doesn't really have any physical possessions, so if his inventory could just be an intact version of his usual clothes, that'd be awesome. (At his current canon point, he's burned or torn everything except his pants.) Samples: 1. TDM Thread 2. [Network - Video - un: madburnish] [Lio's expression is schooled into a stoic, calm façade. His self control is in hand, for the time being at least. His voice is quiet, a bit lower than one might expect from someone who looks like Lio does.] So it's true. This place actually operates how they said it does. [The calm breaks a bit, enough that a shade of annoyance creeps into his features and his voice.] Arbitrarily labeling people and treating half of them like royalty, and the other half... tch. I've seen where that can go before. [A pause before he adds, matter-of-factly.] The world burned. [It's not exactly a threat. It's not exactly not a threat, either.] |
